Since CSIRO first announced aspirations in 2015, we have engaged regularly with local residents, community and stakeholder groups about the future of Ginninderra.
We have conducted community drop-in sessions in neighbouring suburbs of Belconnen and Gungahlin followed by community engagement events. We’ve also discussed the project and our aspirations with more than 30 local community interest groups and provided regular updates or presentations to community councils and government agencies and representatives at local and federal levels.
We have worked closely with the Ginninderra Catchment Group, local school, scout and community groups and a host of community volunteers to run the very popular community shrub planting days. The combined efforts of volunteer and community planters has provided a great boost to the woodland restoration work, with a total of 5000 shrubs planted so far.
